alt:writerTry it

Why I built this.

97% of social media images have no alt text. Not because people don't care — but because writing good alt text is slow, hard, and easy to skip. I built alt:writer to remove that friction entirely.

Video coming soon.

Alt text — short for alternative text — is a written description attached to an image. It's what screen readers read aloud to blind and visually impaired users, and what appears when an image fails to load. Without it, an image is completely invisible to a significant portion of the internet.

I'm deeply interested in accessibility and the gap between what the web promises and what it actually delivers for people who rely on assistive technology. Alt text is one of the simplest, most impactful things a creator can do — and yet almost nobody does it.

alt:writer is my attempt to make the right thing the easy thing. Upload an image, add any context you want, and get accurate, inclusive alt text in seconds — ready to copy straight into Instagram, X, LinkedIn, or wherever you post.

It's built entirely with AI tools, powered by Claude's vision API, and designed to be genuinely WCAG-compliant from day one.
